8 CLEVER SCRAP YARN CROCHET IDEAS THAT GETS YOU GOING:

Scrap yarn crochet ideas is something you should always look for. I mean, there’s no reason to always purchase new yarn & not use all the scraps or left over yarn. Because –  You too have them right? A pile of leftover yarn that you are not sure what to do with, but you don’t have the heart to trow away?

My pile used to grow gradually for each crochet project I finished. I had left over yarn from that project & other scrap yarn from the next. However I figured out that I needed to collect all the scrap yarn crochet ideas I could find & use them to inspire you. I’ve also made quite a few of these now, & have also made some crochet patterns especially with scrap yarn in mind.

WHY YOU SHOULD USE SCRAP YARN CROCHET IDEAS:

The term “scrap yarn” or left over yarn can easily feel like a boring thing. Like the finished project will not end up in the same great quality as your other crochet projects. I totally know the amazing feeling when I’ve been able to purchase a some new yarn, & are ready to make something special with all the new yarn.

However if you’re like me you’ll easily end up with purchasing too much yarn for each project, ending up with way too much scrap yarn. Even though you could easily skip purchasing too much yarn by either calculating yardage or by calculating how much yarn you need by weight.

There’s many reasons why you should use your left over yarn though. First of all it’s more friendly to both your wallet & the environment. Essentially you don’t really need that new yarn if you’ve got some other yarn to use. I have to admit I need to work on this part too!

Finally the last reason is that there’s so many amazing projects that’s perfect for scrap yarn. If you keep reading, I’m ready to share 8 of these with you right now. But if you find that these 8 are not enough, I’m  also eager to tell you that I’ve got a list of 50 scrap yarn ideas you could download right now by clicking the picture below:

This is an amazing project, but can take YEARS to make! In the picture you can see a blanket my grandmother made. It has so many amazing colors & is really lovely. By saving your scrap yarn for weeks, months, years & decades you can make a wonderful blanket like this one. I don’t have any actual pattern for this one. But you can easily make it with any crochet stitch, & can be made as easy as with just single crochet stitches.

Start yours today & keep on adding each time you have scrap yarn to spare. This will be a truly unique project.

Remember to take yarn weight into consideration when choosing your crochet hook & yarn for this project.

3. Coffee cozies

This is an amazing idea & it is an overwhelming amount of inspiration on Pinterest. My best advice for you is to put in the search words “crochet”, “coffee” & “cozies” on Pinterest & find YOUR favorite inspiration.

However I will also inspire you to try one of the stitches you can find on my page & make one of your own. Try making one with the single crochet if you just have started crocheting, or try the “bubblepattern“.

HOW TO make a coffee cozy with Joy of Motion:

1. Find your favorite cup.
2. Chain the number of stitches that is needed to reach 1 round around your cup.
3. Turn & start crocheting your favorite stitch. Finish as many rows needed to make your coffee cozy in the size you want.
4. Crochet together the short ends & fasten thread.

Finally you could check the “8 Mason Jar Crochet Covers“, as you could easily follow their instructions for your coffee cozies.

Once again there was an overwhelming amount of amazing crochet patterns on Pinterest. I chose once again to send you over to Pinterest to search for your favorite crocheted coaster.  I used search word “Crochet” & “Coaster”.
