How To Crochet Triangle Granny Square Garland
The Granny Square Triangle Bunting is made up of 7 triangle granny squares, as well as a crochet string that joins the triangle granny squares together.
You can make a longer garland either by adding extra triangle grannies after the last bunting shape, or by crocheting more stitches between each crochet triangle.
To crochet triangle granny squares, you don’t have to learn much that are too different from learning how to crochet a classic granny square. The difference is that you’ll have one less corner and that’s about all.
The string between each crochet triangle bunting shape, is made up of one row of foundation single crochet stitches and then one row of single crochet stitches.

The spacing between each triangle is approximately 8 cm / 3.1 inches.
Size Adjustments
- Make each of the crochet triangles bigger by working extra rounds.
- Make each of the crocheted triangles smaller by working less rounds.
- Make the spacing between each triangle more/less by adding reducing the stitches between each.

Stitches Used In The Crochet Pattern
To crochet this triangle granny square garland you are going to need to know chains, double crochet stitches, slip stitches, foundation single crochet stitches and single crochet stitches.
Foundation Single Crochet Stitch
Step 1: Ch 2 st.
Step 2: Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, pull up a loop. Yo and pull through first loop (making “chain”). Yo and pull through both loops on hook.
Step 3: Insert hook into previous “chain” you made (It should look like you go through a resemblance of a “normal” st, with 2 strands of yarn), pull up a loop, yo and pull through first loop (making “chain”). Yo and pull through both loops on hook.
Repeat step 3 until you’ve made enough stitches. *2nd ch in step 1 makes 1 st, step 2 makes 1 st & every time step 3 is repeated you make 1 st.

Triangle Granny Square
Make 7 triangle granny squares (or as many as you’d like for your granny square bunting).
Round 1 with CA: Ch 3, dc 2 in 3rd ch (base ch/first ch) from hook, *ch 3, 3 dc in base ch*, rep from *to* once, ch 3, sl st in top ch from beg of round (18 st).
Round 2 with CA: Ch 2 (counts as 1st dc), dc 2 in last ch-sp made on rnd 1, ch 2, *dc 3 in next corner ch-3-sp, ch 3, dc 3 in same corner ch-3-sp, ch 2*, rep from *to* once, dc 3 in first corner ch-3-sp, ch 3, sl st in top of ch from beg of round (=33 st).
Fasten off & cut yarn.
Round 3 with CB: Make slipknot, dc 3 in any corner ch-3-sp, ch 2, *dc 3 in next ch-2-sp, ch 2, dc 3 in next corner ch-3-sp, ch 3, dc 3 in same corner ch-3-sp, ch 2*, rep from *to* once, dc 3 in next ch-2-sp, ch 2, dc 3 in first corner ch-3-sp, ch 3, sl st in top of 1st dc from beg of round (=48 st).
Round 4 with CB: Ch 2 (counts as 1st dc), dc 2 in last ch-space made on rnd 3, ch 2, *[dc 3 in next ch-2-sp, ch 2] rep from [to] twice, dc 3 in next corner ch-3-sp, ch 3, dc 3 in same corner ch-3-sp, ch 2*, rep from *to* once, [dc 3 in next ch-2-sp, ch 2] rep from [to] twice, dc 3 in first corner ch-3-sp, ch 3, sl st in top of 1st dc from beg of round (=63 st).
Join the Triangle Granny Squares
Both rows are made with right side facing.
Row 1 with CA: FSC 45 st*, [sc 22 st along triangle granny square edge, FSC 10 st**], rep from [to] for each triangle granny square, FSC 45 st, fasten off & cut yarn.
*Make more than 45 FSC stitches if you want more string to tie with, make less if you want less to tie to the garland with.
**Make more/less stitches between each granny square on the bunting depending on how close you want them.
Row 2 with CC: Make slipknot, sc 1 in each stitch from row 1, fasten off and cut yarn.
Finishing
Fasten threads & weave in any yarn end.
