How To Crochet The Round Crochet Rug

The Round Rug Pattern is worked from the center outwards, starting wit ha magic ring. It is worked in turning rounds, with slip stitch at the end of each round and turning chains to start the next round.

Each round the stitch count increases by 10 stitches, making sure you will have a crochet rug that lays flat on the floor. The number of stitches on each round starts with 10, while at the end you’ll have long rounds of up to 590 stitches.

There’s no special stitches, you will only need to know the double crochet stitch, as well as chains and slip stitches.

Throughout the pattern there’s multiple changes of color to create the crochet stripes.

Yarn For The Circle Crochet Rug

The suggested yarn for this crochet rug pattern is 24/7 cotton from Lion Brand Yarn. It’s a sturdy 4 medium cotton yarn that can withstand a lot of wear and tear.

Crochet rugs can also be made with t-shirt yarn or fabric yarn, like this crochet doormat, and would also work great for a round crochet rug like this. If you go with that option, you most likely will have a perfect rug with less rounds to crochet, as t-shirt yarns often are super bulky weight yarn.

The circle crochet rug can easily be made with any colors and color combinations. Pick the colors that works for your home. Maybe soft colors for a nursery rug or a contrasting color for a fresh new look.

Grab a load of leftover yarn from other projects and work with each color until you run out, then attach a new color.

Easy & Fun Crochet Circle Rug Patterns

Crocheting circle rugs can be so much fun and the great thing is that it’s easy. Maybe this round rag rug will be your next project?

With some easy crochet stitches and a repeating pattern, this crochet project is for sure a fun and mindless crochet pattern to work up.

Like the idea of fringe on crochet projects. Maybe add some for a unique detail when you finish?

How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?

How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?

Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.

It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.

All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.

Calculate how long it takes to crochet that.

Crochet Pattern Notes

  • This crochet pattern is written in US terms.
  • All measurements given are unblocked.
  • Note that measurements are given as exact as possible. But crochet tension & technique might give variations in the result, that changes from person to person.
  • Read pattern instructions carefully before beginning to make sure you understand everything. It might save you hours frogging your work & crocheting it again!
  • Make a swatch that measure at least 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches using the stitch the gauge is given for. If your swatch matches the gauge, you’re good to go. If the gauge is wrong, you might need to change your hook. Go up in crochet hook size if your stitches are smaller & go down in crochet hook size if your stitches are bigger. Learn more about testing gauge.
  • Check yarn info if you want to find an alternative or test your yarn against the gauge. Learn more about substituting yarn.
  • This pattern is written for 1 size, however size adjustments are suggested under the heading “Size & Measurements”.
  • At the end of each row, the stitch count is given in parenthesis.
  • If you prefer to omit counting on each round, use stitch markers to mark of where you increased, to easily identify it on the next round.
