Grab a crochet hook in your right hand, make a slip knot and crochet foundation chain(s).

If you start crocheting directly into the foundation chain stitch, work the first stitch into the 2nd ch from hook.

The loop closest to you is the front loop, while the loop furthest away from you is the back loop.

For the single crochet FLO you will insert the crochet hook into the front loop only.
