The fans and eyes crochet stitch, is a lace stitch crochet pattern I’m sure you’re going to love.
It’s a stitch high on my list to include in crochet designs, that’s why it’s great to have a crochet stitch tutorial for it.
The stitch is characterized by having tiny eyes, stacked on top of each other, as well as multiple fans stacked the same way.
I’ve also included a way for you to grab the printable version in a bundle, more details about that further down.

- This pattern is a stitch multiple of 4 stitches. Add 3 for base chain.
TO MAKE A 15 cm x 15 cm / 6 x 6 INCH SQUARE
With the hook & yarn given, I crocheted:
- Ch 27 st, for a total of 25 stitches per row.
- 18 rows.

FANS AND EYES – CROCHET STITCH TUTORIAL:
Ch a multiple of 4 st, add 3 for base chain.
Row 1: dc 3 in 5th ch from hook (counts as 1 dc & sk 1 st), sk 1 st, *sl st in next st, sk 1 st, dc 3 in next st, sk 1 st*, repeat from *to* until you have 1 st left, dc 1 in last st, turn.
Row 2: ch 2 (counts as 2 st), sk 1 st, sl st in next st, *ch 3, sk 3 st, sl st in next st* repeat from *to* until you have 2 st left, ch 1, sl st in next st, turn.
Row 3: ch 2 (counts as 1 dc), sk 1 st, dc 3 in sl st from prev row, *sl st in ch-space from prev row, dc 3 in sl st from prev row*, repeat from *to* until you have 2 st left, sk 1 st, dc 1 in last st, turn.
Repeat row 2-3 until project is desired size.
To end with a straight edge, crochet a repeat of row 2 as the last row.
