  2. Insert crochet hook from back to front to back again around the post of the stitch on the previous row

1. Identify the post of the stitch

The first step of learning the back post treble crochet is to know where to insert the crochet hook and what the post of the crochet stitch is.

Directly below the crochet hook, you have the second to last stitch of the previous row. On the photo we have stretched the crocheted fabric a bit to show two gaps on either side of it, this is where you will insert the crochet hook to work around the post of the stitch.

The post of the crochet stitch is the bottom part of it, that isn’t the loop part of it you would usually insert the crochet hook into.
