How To Crochet The Pumpkin Pattern
To crochet the pumpkin you are going to start with a magic circle and crochet half double crochet stitches into it.
Then you will work a few rounds with increasing stitches, a few rounds keeping the same stitch count and finally decrease back again. When finished you will have a round ball.
To shape the crochet pumpkin you need to tie a knot with the long yarn tail from the beginning and end.
The stitches that creates the ribs of the pumpkin is a combination of front post double crochet and back post single crochet.
The pattern doesn’t call for stuffing, as the tight stitches keeps the shape well, however you can opt to stuff it before the last steps with yarn scraps or polyester fiber fill.
At the end the stem of the crochet pumpkin is crocheted.
Many choose to use a cinnamon stick for the stem, and you can opt for attaching that with a glue gun instead of using brown yarn an crochet it.
Yarn For The Pumpkin Crochet Pattern
For the pumpkin crochet pattern you need to hold 2 strands of fingering yarn together, if you use the suggested yarn Rainbow Cotton 8/4 from Hobbii Yarns.
The reason why it’s designed using 2 strands, is to give the orange yarn more depth by using two different shades.
If you want to opt for 1 strand of yarn, try using 1 strand of dk weight yarn.
The stem is crocheted using 2 strands of the same shade of yarn.
Go through your yarn stash, maybe you have some leftover yarn you can use for this project!

How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?
How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?
Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.
It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.
All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.
Calculate how long it takes to crochet that.
