- Make a swatch that measure at least 5 x 5 cm / 2 x 2 inches using the stitch the gauge is given for. If your swatch matches the gauge, you’re good to go. If the gauge is wrong, you might need to change your hook. Go up in crochet hook size if your stitches are smaller & go down in crochet hook size if your stitches are bigger. Crochet Mug Cozy Pattern Instructions
With CA ch 22 st.
Round 1 side 1 with CA: dc 2 into 4th ch from hook (=1st 3-dc group), *ch 1, sk 2 st, dc 3 in next ch*, repeat from *to* until end of foundation row working last 3-dc group in last ch.
Round 1 first corners with CA: ch 2, dc 3 in same ch, ch 2, dc 3 in same ch.
Round 1 opposite side with CA: Repeat from *to* working 3-dc groups into all the same chains as first side.
Round 1 last corners with CA: ch 2, dc 3 in same ch, ch 2, sl st in first st.
(=68 st on round 1).
Fasten off & cut yarn.
Round 2 with CB: Make slipkont. *dc 3 in next ch-sp, ch 1*, repeat from *to* until you reach corner ch-sp, **dc 3 in corner ch-sp, ch 2, dc 3 in same corner ch-sp, ch 1**, repeat from **to** once, repeat from *to* until you reach corner ch-sp, repeat from **to** 2 times, sl st in 1st st (=84 st).
Fasten off & cut yarn.
Round 3 with CC: Repeat round 2, working one dc 3 group into each ch-1-sp, with ch 1 between, and working two dc 3 groups into each corner ch-2-sp with 2 ch between (=100 st).
Fasten off & cut yarn.
Finishing & Assembly
FSC 66 stitches to create a string. Thread through the 4 corner chain spaces to be able to tie it to your mug.
Fasten threads & weave in end.
