The Yarn

There are so many options when choosing a yarn for your Market Tote.  Personally I like to use Lily’s Sugar’n Cream because it is 100% cotton and stays true to my specifications for the Knottie Hooks Green Living line.

However, Caron Cotton Cakes works great, as well as Lion Brand Comfy Cotton Blend.  Choose whatever color suits your mood.  The Market Tote is so easy to make you can whip up a couple to have in all kinds of colors!

IT’S FARMERS MARKET SEASON!!!

When I designed the Market Tote it was spring.  Here in Columbia Missouri the farmers market is Huge!  I was making many Produce Bags to take and sell at the farmers market and realized that I needed to design something to carry all those awesome filled produce bags.  I needed a bag for my bags!  So I got to work.  I knew it needed to stretch and I wanted straps that were crocheted as part of the bag and not sewn on after.  About a day later I had a finished Market Tote!

Since you like the Market Tote, these might interest you too?

How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?

How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?

Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.

It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.

All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.

Calculate how long it takes to crochet that.

If the gauge is wrong, you might need to change your hook. Go up in crochet hook size if your stitches are smaller & go down in crochet hook size if your stitches are bigger.
