The Yarn
I used t-shirt yarn from my shop Knitznpurlz. The yarn is very soft with even edges and without knots throughout all length. I have a great variety of colors. 100 % cotton t-shirt yarn (weight 6 /super bulky weight), 100 m (109 yards)/330 g (11.5oz) – 1 cake (109 yards/100 m).

Materials Needed

- 6 super bulky
- 100 cotton
Other Materials Needed
- 2 Gate rings purse hardware approx. 1.5”
- 1 magnetic snap approx. 0.5”
- 1 purse chain approx. 51”
Save you time in search for all the materials and get a crochet KIT with all materials included.
Gauge
4.5 St = 4” and 2 Rows = 4” in jasmine st (your gauge may depend on the thickness of your yarn, so you may have to decrease or increase the size of the hook to match the gauge).
Notes
- The purse is worked starting at the oval base and worked upward using jasmine stitch, like the Jasmine Stitch Beanie, in the continuous rounds.
- All measurements given are unblocked.
- Note that measurements are given as exact as possible. But crochet tension & technique might give variations in the result, that changes from person to person.
- Read pattern instructions carefully before beginning to make sure you understand everything. It might save you hours!
- Make a swatch that measure at least 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches using the stitch the gauge is given for. If your swatch matches the gauge, you’re good to go. If the gauge is wrong, you might need to change your hook. Go up in crochet hook size if your stitches are smaller & go down in crochet hook size if your stitches are bigger (more details).

- Ch 1 at the beginning of the row does not count toward the total st count.
- At the end of each row, the stitch count is given in parenthesis.

Jasmine Purse Pattern Instructions
Base
Ch 13
Round 1: sc in the back bump of 2nd ch from the hook and next 10 sts, 3 sc in the last st, Work across the opposite side of the foundation ch, 1 sc in next 10 sts, 2 sc in last st. Join with a sl st to the first sc. (26 sts)
Round 2:. Ch 1, 2 sc in next st, sc in the next 10 sts, 2 sc in next 3 sts, 1 sc in next 10 sts, 2 sc in last 2 st. Join with a sl st to the first sc (32sts)
You may steam with iron your crochet piece through cotton cloth to make it straight and even.
Round 3: Sc in the back loop AND third loop of all 32 st around, do not join the round, continue to work in a spiral way.
Purse
Round 1: Make row 1 of jasmine st (see jasmine stitch tutorial).
Round 2: Make row 2 of jasmine st.
Counting repeating round 2 until desired length of the purse.
Round 3: Sl st all around.
Fasten off & cut yarn.
Finishing
Weave ends and finish off. Attach gate ring to the sides of the purse and magnetic snap in the middle on the wrong sides of the purse. Try to get couple yarn threads in between snap prongs. With darning needle weave yarn (double length of chain) through the chains. Secure the yarn ends by either weaving it through a chain or sew with a sewing needle and matching color sewing thread.
