Crochet Crunch Stitch or Moss Stitch is one of my absolute favorite alterations of the half double crochet stitch.Â
It gives texture without making things complex.
I’ve used this stitch for my Lux Headband crochet pattern & also the Lux Hat, however crocheted in the round, not in rows as with this stitch tutorial.

What are the crochet crunch stitch pattern?
The crochet crunch stitch pattern, also known as the even moss stitch, is a great textured crochet stitch combination that offers a simple and textured look.
The stitches you will need to know is chains, single crochet stitches, half double crochet stitches and slip stitches.
The stitch pattern is a 2 stitch multiple & it is a 1 row repeat.

Materials Needed

Instructions
- Ch a multiple of 2 + 1 for base chain. Row 1:Â Sc 1 in 3rd ch from hook, sc 1 in each ch, turn.
- Row 2: Ch 1, *hdc 1 in next st, sl st 1 in next st*, repeat from *to* until you have 1 st left, hdc 1 in next st, turn.
- After repeating row 2 once.Repeat row 2 until project is desired size.
