What is the Quadruple Treble Crochet

The quadruple treble crochet stitch is one of the tall basic crochet stitches. Crocheters often come across this stitch a few times or not at all during their crochet life, because it’s less common than the shorter stitches. As a beginner crocheter you often learn the short stitches first.

It can be crocheted in just 4 simple steps.

The steps of the Quadruple Treble Crochet Stitch:

  1. Yarn over 5 times.
  2. Insert hook into next stitch and pull up a loop.
  3. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on the crochet hook.
  4. Repeat step 3, 5 times.

Materials Needed

To crochet the quadruple crochet stitch you can use any crochet hook size and yarn. If you’re following a crochet pattern, use the crochet hook and yarn suggested.

When you reach the end of the row, turn your work by flipping it to the other side, ready to work in the opposite direction over the stitches you most recently crocheted.

To start a second row of quadruple treble crochet stitches, chain seven (ch-7) and work quadruple treble crochet stitches into all the quadruple treble crochets from the first row. If the chain 7 counts as a stitch according to the pattern, work the first quadruple treble crochet into the second to last stitch from previous row.

Repeat row 2 to crochet the next row of these stitches as many times as needed for your pattern.

When working qtr in rows you can make crochet projects like scarves, afghans and so much more.
