What is the Quintuple Treble Crochet

The quintuple treble crochet stitch is one of the tall basic crochet stitches. Crocheters often come across this stitch a few times or not at all during their crochet life, because it’s less common than the shorter stitches.

It consists of four yarn overs extra compared to the more used treble crochet stitch. It requires three extra yarn overs compared to the double treble crochet stitch, two yarn overs extra compared to the triple treble crochet stitch and one yarn over extra compared to the quadruple treble crochet stitch (quadtr). These are all also tall crochet stitches.

There are even taller stitches you can crochet, the sextuple treble (sexttr), septuple treble (septtr), octuple treble (octtr) and nonuple treble (nontr). These are crocheted the same way, but require between 7 and 10 yarn overs.

The quin-tr can be crocheted in just 4 simple steps.

The steps of the Quintuple Treble Crochet Stitch:

  1. Yarn over 6 times.
  2. Insert hook into next stitch and pull up a loop.
  3. Yarn over and pull through 2 loops on the crochet hook.
  4. Repeat step 3, 6 times.

Materials Needed

To crochet the quintuple treble crochet you can use any crochet hook size and yarn. If you’re following a crochet pattern, use the crochet hook and yarn suggested.

How To Crochet The Quintuple Treble Crochet Stitch In Rows

You can crochet quintr stitches in rows, with as many number of stitches needed for your crochet projects.

In that case you will start your project with a row of foundation chain stitches.

Then to crochet your first row of quintuple treble crochet, you will repeat steps 2-18 to crochet quintuple treble crochet stitches into the next ch and every foundation chain until the end of the first row.

When you reach the end of the row, turn your work by flipping it to the other side, ready to work in the opposite direction over the stitches you most recently crocheted.

To start a second row of quintr stitches, chain eight (ch-8) and work quintr crochet stitches into all the quintr from the first row. If the chain 8 counts as a stitch according to the pattern, work the first quintr crochet into the second to last stitch from previous row.

Repeat row 2 to crochet the next row of these stitches as many times as needed for your pattern.

When working quintr in rows you can make crochet projects like scarves, shawls afghans, stitch patterns and so much more.
