4 Alternative Ways To Start A Row Of Double Crochet – Step By Step Photo Tutorials

Alternative 1: Chain 3 Counts As First Stitch

The first alternative for the turning chain for the double crochet the turning chains counts as the first double crochet of the row. In this case you will have to work into the top of that turning chain when you come back to it when you finish the next row.

The positive about this technique is that you avoid gaps completely and the edges turn out straight.

It can be a bit more difficult to master than the other techniques, but the overall finish looks good.
