Techniques You Will Need
Crocheting in the Front and Back Loop
This means that you will not crochet through the whole stitch as usual. A typical stitch contains two loops. One in the front, nearest you, and another stitch in the back, furthest away from you. One is called the front loop (the one nearest you), the other one the back loop, the one furthest away from you.
These stitches are abbreviated with FL and BL in front of their regular abbreviation.
Mosaic Crochet
To crochet this pattern you will use the mosaic crochet technique, following these 3 simple rules:
- You will use color A & color B every other row.
- All single crochet stitches are worked in the back loop.
- All double crochet stitches (long double crochet/ Ldc) are worked 2 rounds below in the front loop & this front loop are always the same color as the one you’re working with.

To crochet this pattern you can choose to follow the mosaic crochet chart, following these rules:
- Read from the bottom up, from right to left.
- The yarn color for the round you are going to work are given to the left with letters A and B.
- The colors in the diagram itself shows how it will look, but don’t pay too much attention to it when working each round. Rather…
- Crochet single crochet for each empty box, and long double crochet for each box with an “X”.
Instructions for the Mosaic Crochet Toiletry Bag Pattern
With CA, ch 84 st, sl st in first ch.
Round 1 (with CA): sc 1 in each st until end of round, sl st in 1st st (=84 st).
Round 2 (with CA): BLsc 1 in each st until end or round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=84 st).

Round 3 (with CB): *Ldc 1 in the next 2 st, BLdc 1 in the next 3 st, Ldc 1 in next st*, repeat from *to* until end of round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=84 st).
Round 4 (with CA): *BLsc 1 in the next 2 st, Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc 1 in next st, Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc 1 in next st*, repeat from *to* until end of round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=84 st).
Round 5 (with CB): *Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc 1 in the next 2 st*, repeat from *to* until end of round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=84 st).
Round 6 (with CA): *BLsc 1 in next st, Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc 1 in the next 3 st, Ldc 1 in next st*, repeat from *to* until end of round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=84 st).
Round 7 (with CB): Repeat round 4.
Round 8 (with CA): Repeat round 5.
Round 9 (with CB): Repeat round 6.
Round 10 (with CA): Repeat round 5.
Round 11 (with CB): Repeat round 4.
Round 12 (with CA): Repeat round 6.
Round 13 (with CB): Repeat round 6.
Round 14 (with CA): Repeat round 4.
Repeat round 3-14 until you have crocheted 35 rounds, ending with a repeat of round 11.
Fasten off & cut yarn.
Finishing
When you’re finished crocheting you have a crocheted tube:
- Lay the crocheted tube flat and whip stitch the starting edge together, working corresponding stitches into each other.
- Sew on the zipper on the to of the crochet toiletry bag.
Fasten threads & weave in ends.
