How to crochet the Mosaic Crochet Pillow Cover Pattern
The mosaic crochet pillow cover is crocheted in rounds using the mosaic crochet technique and you’ll essentially crochet a tube first.
This means you’ll essentially crochet the front panel and back panel at the same time.
You will crochet a foundation chain long enough to close a loop, then work the mosaic crochet stitch as described below in rounds.
When the tube is finished, you will whip stitch the first side together. Then place the pillow inside and finish it by whip stitching the second side together.
You need to make yourself familiar with the basics of mosaic crochet to follow the pattern.

- Make a swatch that measures at least 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches using the stitch the gauge is given for. If your swatch matches the gauge, you’re good to go. - At the beginning of each round, work your first stitch into the first stitch, without starting chains. This will be the in same stitch as the stitch you made your sl st at the end of the previous round if the first stitch is a BLsc.

Size Adjustments
- To make the crochet pillow cover wider, start with more stitches, added by 7 stitches at a time.
- To make the pillow cover higher, crochet more rounds. To make a full extra pattern repeat, work 10 extra rounds.

Techniques You Will Need
Crocheting in the Front and Back Loop
This means that you will not crochet through the whole stitch as usual. A typical stitch contains two loops. One in the front, nearest you, and another stitch in the back, furthest away from you. One is called the front loop (the one nearest you), the other one the back loop, the one furthest away from you.
These stitches are abbreviated with FL and BL in front of their regular abbreviation.
Mosaic Crochet
To crochet this pattern you will use the mosaic crochet technique, following these 3 simple rules:
- You will use color A & color B every other row.
- All single crochet stitches are worked in the back loop.
- All double crochet stitches (long double crochet/ Ldc) are worked 2 rounds below in the front loop & this front loop are always the same color as the one you’re working with.

To crochet this pattern you can choose to follow the mosaic crochet chart, following these rules:
- Read from the bottom up, from right to left.
- The yarn color for the round you are going to work are given to the left with letters A and B.
- The colors in the diagram itself shows how it will look, but don’t pay too much attention to it when working each round. Rather…
- Crochet single crochet for each empty box, and long double crochet for each box with an “X”.
Instructions for the Mosaic Crochet Pillow Cover Pattern
With CA, ch 119 st, sl st in first ch.
Round 1 (with CA): sc 1 in each st until end of round, sl st in 1st st (=119 st).
Round 2 (with CA): BLsc 1 in each st until end or round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=119 st).

Round 3 (with CB): *Ldc 1 in the next 2 st, BLsc 1 in the next 3 st, Ldc 1 in the next 2 st*, repeat from *to* until end of round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=119 st).
Round 4 (with CA): *BLsc in the next 2 st, Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc in next st, Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc 1 in the next 2 st*, repeat from *to* until end of round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=119 st).
Round 5 (with CB): *Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc 1 in the next 2 st, Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc 1 in the next 2 st, Ldc 1 in next st*, repeat from *to* until end of round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=119 st).
Round 6 (with CA): *BLsc 1 in next st, Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc 1 in the next 3 st, Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc 1 in next st*, repeat from *to* until end of round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=119 st).
Round 7 (with CB): *BLsc 1 in next st, Ldc 1 in the next 3 st, BLsc 1 in next st*, repeat from *to* until end of round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=119 st).
Round 8 (with CA): *Ldc 1 in next st, BLsc 1 in the next 5 st, Ldc 1 in next st*, repeat from *to* until end of round, sl st in BL of 1st st (=119 st).
Round 9 (with CB): Repeat round 7.
Round 10 (with CA): Repeat round 6.
Round 11 (with CB): Repeat round 5.
Round 12 (with CA): Repeat round 4.
Round 13 – 32: Repeat round 3-12, 2 times.
Round 33 (with CA): Repeat round 1.
Fasten off and cut both yarn colors, leaving a long yarn tail on color A for sewing.
Finishing
When you’re finished crocheting you have a tube. Weave in ends on the wrong side.
To finish off, sew the first edge together using the whip stitch.
Lay the tube flat and work corresponding stitches from both sides together.
When the first edge is done, place the pillow inside and repeat on the second edge.
Fasten threads & weave in end.
