The zig zag puff stitch is such a beautiful and textured crochet stitch.
It creates a lovely zig zagging stitch pattern and it’s easy to learn with a detailed step by step photo tutorial.
What’s extra great about this stitch crochet pattern is the softness the puffs create. One thing to be aware of though, it’s for sure a yarn “eater”.

- This pattern is a stitch multiple of 2 stitches. Add 3 for base chain.
Stitches You Will Need
PUFF WRITTEN TUTORIAL:
In stitch or space indicated: *yarn over, pull up a loop*, repeat from *to* 2 more times, you have 7 loops on the hook. Yarn over, pull through all.

TO MAKE A 15 cm x 15 cm / 6 x 6 INCH SQUARE
With the hook & yarn give, I crocheted:
- Ch 19 st, for a total of 26 stitches per row.
- 13 rows.

PHOTO & WRITTEN TUTORIAL:
Ch a multiple of 2 + 3 st loosely.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook, work puff in ch before dc just made, *sk 1 ch, dc 1 in next st, puff 1 in sk ch, ch 1*, repeat from *to* until you have 1 st left, dc 1 in last st, turn.
Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as 1st st), sk 1st st, dc 1 in ch from previous row, puff in space between last puff and dc from previous row, ch 1, *skip dc and space between puffs, dc in next ch from previous row, puff in space between puffs*, repeat from *to* until you have 1 st left, dc 1 in last st, turn.
Repeat row 2 of the Zig Zag Puff Stitch until your project reaches desired length.
