The Easy Twisted Crochet Ear Warmer pattern is a lovely crochet headband that works up easily with basic crochet stitches.
It has double layers, since it crocheted as a tube before it’s twisted and sewn together at the back with whip stitches and a yarn needle.
It can be crocheted for any head circumference, and is a great pattern for adventurous crochet beginners.

How To Crochet The Easy Twisted Crochet Ear Warmer
The Easy Twisted Crochet Ear Warmer are crocheted in rounds as a tube, creating a warmer headband.
The stitches used are single crochet stitches (sc) and slip stitches worked in the back loop only (sl st blo).
The tube can be crocheted as long as you’d like, but the written pattern has sizing for women. But if you want to crochet it for a toddler, kid, teen or man, you can easily add or reduce the number of rounds you crochet.
The right sides are always facing you as you crochet.
The crocheted tube for the headband is folded once at the end, then the short edges of the tube are sewn together with whip stitches.
Yarn For The Twisted Crochet Ear Warmer
The suggested yarn for the twist headband is an aran weight yarn from Plymouth yarn called Homestead.
It’s a lovely 100 % wool yarn that will keep you warm and toasty on the coldest days.
But you can also substitute the yarn for any other wool or acrylic yarn.
There’s even a possibility to adopt the pattern to use worsted weight yarn or bulky weight yarn. To do this you can add/reduce the number of stitches in the tube, then add/reduce the number of rounds you crochet.
Double Layered Headband For Extra Warmth
The Easy Twisted Crochet Ear Warmer is crocheted as a tube for extra warmth.
Usually crochet headband patterns are crocheted as a rectangle, without that double layer. For twisted ear warmers, they are often folded once to create the twist.
The positive feature with the tube method is the added insulation it creates during cold days.

How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?
How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?
Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.
It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.
All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.
Calculate how long it takes to crochet that.

Stitches Used In The Crochet Pattern
Foundation Single Crochet (FSC):
Written description:
Step 1: Ch 2 st.
Step 2: Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, pull up a loop. Yo and pull through first loop (making “chain”). Yo and pull through both loops on hook.
Step 3: Insert hook into previous “chain” you made (It should look like you go through a resemblance of a “normal” st, with 2 strands of yarn), pull up a loop, yo and pull through first loop (making “chain”). Yo and pull through both loops on hook.
Repeat step 3 until you’ve made enough stitches. *2nd ch in step 1 makes 1 st, step 2 makes 1 st & every time step 3 is repeated you make 1 st.

Techniques Used In The Crochet Pattern
Crochet In The Back Loop (BL)
A regular crochet stitch has a front loop and a back loop. Mostly you will work into both loops, but in this pattern you will work the slip stitches through the back loop only.
