HOW TO Crochet the Woodland Stitch

HOW TO Crochet the Woodland Stitch

Keep reading to learn how to crochet the woodland stitch. This crochet stitch pattern might be known under other names. However like many of my other favorite stitches, I don’t remember where I first came across it. The Woodland stitch gives a lovely texture & quite a “romantic” & traditional crochet look. It is a fan stitch & it is quite easy.

If you have bought one of my crochet patterns, you might wonder how it is done. The pattern always offers written text in addition to charts, but now I will give you a lot of additional explanations. In addition there is a video of how to crochet this stitch on the bottom.

Today I suggest that you learn the stitch & then you should use it in a project! You can make you own project, but on the bottom of this post I have also included all crochet patterns that are using the woodland stitch.

Crochet hook for the yarn weight

Crochet hook for the yarn weight

One of my favorite things is being able to design crochet patterns & giving them a certain feel due to the choice of crochet hook for the yarn weight.

Crochet is for me is transforming yarn into something special. The way you combine crochet hooks with yarn weight gives the finished design and project its own ease & texture. The shortest way of describing it can be:

Big crochet hooks & thin yarn will give you a stretching finish,  while a small hook with thick yarn will give you a harder more stable finish.

While you might be familiar with US crochet terms, I’d suggest you learn the UK terms as well. Hey! There’s a lot of amazing UK crochet patterns out there. Learn to read them, rather than looking at it as a problem.

Furthermore for any UK pattern readers, please read further to be able to understand my crochet patterns. In addition you are opening the door to even more amazing crochet patterns, simply by learning this.

Most noteworthy: Some of the basic stitches are named the same while some are not! Makes it a little confusing right? Let’s get started rather than being confused!
