The Linked Double Crochet Stitch is an amazing variation of the regular double crochet stitch.
Most importantly, with linked stitches, it removes the gaps that you usually get between them. This results in a beautiful solid fabric.
The linked double crochet stitch is great for patterns where you don’t want those gaps, such as some garments, blankets, pot holders, baskets & much more.
I’m going to show you how to crochet this amazing linked stitch in this detailed step by step crochet tutorial.

Step 8: Identify the horizontal bar
Notice the circled loop, this is the horizontal bar. (Note: On this first stitch it looks more diagonal on my photos, but will appear more horizontal on the following stitches, as shown further down. )
Step 9: Insert hook in horizontal bar
Insert hook in horizontal bar of previous stitch, shown in previous photo.

Step 16: Always insert hook in the horizontal bar
When repeating you will always insert hook in the horizontal bar as shown on this photo. This will be the difference between yarn over on a regular double crochet & also results in no gaps in your crochet fabric.
Step 17: 1 row finished
How it looks after 1 row is finished.
Step 18: 2 rows finished
How it looks after 2 rows are finished.
Do you like this alternative to the normal dc stitch?
It’s for sure great when you want to crochet something that needs to be more dense & tighter than the original double crochet.
