The yarns listed below is the yarns Joy of Motion personally have used & tested the crochet pattern with. They are also the ones you’ll find in the crochet pattern. When you find more than one yarn the cheapest alternative is listed first.
- Wool and the Gang – Shiny Happy Cotton. This yarn is the yarn the Habena top was originally designed with. It comes in many lovely colors & is 100 % cotton. The yarns is slightly thicker that the original yarn, that might change the result just as much. However it’s a great choice.
- Lion Brand – Kitchen Cotton. This yarn is a good option to the original yarn suggested for the Habena top. It comes in many lovely colors & is 100 % cotton. The yarns is slightly thinner that the original yarn, that might change the result just as much. However it’s a great choice.
The crochet hook(s) listed below is the crochet hook(s) Joy of Motion personally have used & tested the crochet pattern with. They are also the one(s) you’ll find in the crochet pattern. When you find more than one crochet hook the cheapest alternative is listed first.
- Knitpro – Symphonie Rose Crochet Hooks – Was the hooks used to design the Habena top. They opened my world to wood hooks & impressed me with their amazing lightness & how they feel in my hand. Even though they’re not padded, they never give me any strain while using them. I’ve only come across them in sets.
The needle(s) listed below are needles used to finish of the crochet pattern. However any needle that are big enough will essentially get it done.
The buttons(s) listed below are buttons that can be used to finish of the crochet pattern. However any buttons will essentially get it done.

Meet: Gilly from The Gilly Pad.
She tested the Habena top for me using only one color with the original yarn: Wool and the Gang Shiny Happy Cotton.
She used 4 skeins for size small using 1 color.
Her’s turned out a little longer, most likely due to looser crochet stitches.
She tested the Habena top for me using 3 colors with the original yarn: Wool and the Gang Shiny Happy Cotton.
She adjusted the fit slightly by adding 1 extra row & reduced the number of decreases for the waist. Which is a easy adjustment to make if you decide to make this top.
She tested the Habena top for me using 2 colors with the optiona yarn: Kitchen Cotton from Lion Brand.
She adjusted the top slightly by adding a couple of rows.
