HOW TO Crochet Cables Crossing to the Right or Behind

Stitches:

Crochet cables crossing to the right aren’t that known & the most used technique is to cross the cables to the left or in front.  But for some crochet patterns you’d even want to cross cables both ways, so this is a great technique to learn.

It can be done with both double crochet stitches & treble crochet stitches & even longer stitches or shorter stitches.
The cables can also be done with a combination of the stitches mentioned above.

However for this tutorial I’ve decided to use the double crochet stitches as an example.

Width:

Crochet cables also come in different sizes or width. You can do them with any number of stitches, but what’s most common is cables done with about 4-8 stitches.

For this tutorial I’ll show you how to crochet cables crossing to the right or behind with 4 stitches.

If you have got one of my crochet patterns, you might wonder how it is done. The pattern always offers written text, but now I will give you a lot of additional explanations. Most importantly there is a video of how to crochet this stitch on the bottom.

Today I suggest that you learn the stitch & then you should use it in a project! You can make you own project, but on the bottom of this post I have also included all crochet patterns I’ve designed that are using these crochet cables.

So let’s dive into the HOW TO Crochet Cables Crossing to the Right or Behind.

MATERIALS YOU’LL NEED TO LEARN HOW TO CROCHET CABLES TO THE RIGHT OR BEHIND:

Crochet Hook:

To follow this crochet tutorial you’ll need a crochet hook. When I crochet I usually use 2 types of crochet hooks. I’ve listed them below:

  • Knitpro – Symphonie Rose Crochet Hooks – My first choice as of now is the Symphonie Rose Crochet Hooks from KnitPro. They opened my world to wood hooks &  impressed me with their amazing lightness & how they feel in my hand. Even though they’re not padded, they never give me any strain while using them. I’ve only come across them in sets They are available here:
  • KnitPro – Waves Crochet Hooks – Are the crochet hooks I use almost as my favorite. They are padded hooks & are comfortable to crochet with.  They are a little heavier than wooden hooks, but the padded comfort is truly amazing. You can buy these both in sets & alone. They are available here:

Yarn:

You’re going to need some yarn to follow this crochet tutorial to learn a new crochet stitch. I really do love purchasing my yarn online. Here’s my top yarn resources:
