The Crochet Slouchy Beanie is a great crochet pattern for a quick crochet hat pattern.
This slouchy beanie pattern is super popular, especially because of the textures the stitch pattern creates.
This crochet doesn’t have a brim, but you could easily create one by folding the lower edge outwards.

How To Crochet The Slouchy Beanie
To crochet this slouchy beanie all you have to do is crochet a rectangle. Then you’ll assemble it to a beanie by seaming with a tapestry needle at the short edge to create a tube. Finally you will cinch in the top of the beanie to close it.
What makes a beanie slouchy is the length of the beanie from the forehead to the top of the beanie. The longer you make it, the more slouchy the beanie will be. The suggested length or hat height to create a slouchy beanie varies from 7 to 9.5 inches, depending on which size you make.
The featured stitch for this crochet slouchy beanie is the bubble pattern, also known as the bean stitch. It’s a easy crochet stitch to learn. It’s a type of easy puff stitch that can be picked up quickly even by beginners.
The final technique used on this slouchy hat is the fact that two colors are used, but you can easily change it to use only one color.
Yarn For The Crochet Hat
The suggested yarn for the slouchy hat pattern is Naturgarn from Filcolana. It’s a super warm yarn & perfect for winter wear.
Grab two yarn colors you like, or make it a solid colored crochet pattern.
To make this crochet hat you can substitute with almost any 6 super bulky yarn.
Make sure you create the correct size by measuring your head circumference and also testing gauge.
Honestly, you could also substitute with a thinner yarn, such as a worsted weight yarn. However, you will then have to increase the number of stitches and rows you crochet to achieve the correct size.

How Long Does It Take To Crochet That?
How long it takes to crochet something varies depending on your skill & how fast you crochet. But that isn’t a helpful answer is it?
Well, I’ve developed a yarn calculator to help you get the answer to this question.
It will help you calculate exactly how much time you’ll spend crocheting a project.
All you need to know is how much yarn you will use on the project in either meters, yards or skeins. Then crochet your test square & time it.

Crochet Pattern Notes
- This crochet pattern is written in US terms.
- All measurements given are unblocked.
- Note that measurements are given as exact as possible. But crochet tension & technique might give variations in the result, that changes from person to person.
- Read pattern instructions carefully before beginning to make sure you understand everything. It might save you hours frogging your work & crocheting it again!
- Make a swatch that measure at least 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches using the stitch the gauge is given for. If your swatch matches the gauge, you’re good to go. If the gauge is wrong, you might need to change your hook. Go up in crochet hook size if your stitches are smaller & go down in crochet hook size if your stitches are bigger (more details).
- Check yarn info if you want to find an alternative or test your yarn against the gauge. Learn more about substituting yarn.

Stitches Used In The Crochet Pattern
Bubblepattern (BP):
The bubblepattern is crocheted in 1 stitch & 1 stitch will be skipped. Each bubblepattern contains 2 stitches.
1. The bubble.
2. The Chain.
Written description: *Draw up a loop from next stitch, yo, draw up a loop from same st, yo, pull yarn through 4 loops on hook, ch 1, sk 1 st*, repeat from *to*.
*Start each row with sk 1, because the “bubble” will always be placed in a “bubble” when crocheting in rows.
Techniques Used In The Crochet Pattern
Changing Color With Different Color On Different Rows:
When working with different colors on different rows, you’ll never finish the last stitch on the last row with one color, with the color you where working with.
Do all the steps of the stitch, then leave the last step unworked. Yarn over with the color for the next st & pull yarn through.
Repeat this for every row you change colors to make the color changes look beautiful.
